Scene 01 — Int. Pub — 97 m²
Pub
A traditional English-style pub
Logline Making time slow down: low light, wood and reclaimed brick for conversations that last two to five hours.

- Area
- 97 m²
- Length of stay
- 2 to 5 hours
- Lighting
- LED, low intensity
- Climate
- Natural ventilation
A social space inspired by traditional English pubs, with a cultural identity and a focus on drinks, conversation and long stays. Visits are expected to be medium to long — two to five hours — since the place encourages socializing, quick meals and tasting drinks.
Lighting is low-intensity LED, with conventional power for lighting and equipment, and natural ventilation.
Materials: wood for the bars, shelving and ceiling; custom joinery; wood or hydraulic-tile floors; textured wallpapers; and exposed reclaimed-brick walls combined with wood paneling.
The pub draws people in and brings the space to life, adding value to the property and the neighborhood. Quality materials last longer and need less maintenance, and reclaimed materials reinforce a sustainable, low-impact approach.
Scene 02 — Ext. Green Roof
Green Roof
An outdoor social space on the roof
Logline Turning the roof into a place to stay: the radial pergola casts shade and organizes decks and planters around the green.

This project designs an outdoor space with a green roof, meant to offer comfort, a place to gather and a closer connection with nature. It turns the area into somewhere to stay and rest, bringing in planting, seating areas and circulation.
The timber pergola creates a shaded, welcoming area, while landscaping with different plant species improves thermal comfort, environmental quality and the look of the space. Decks and furniture were placed to encourage people to gather and use it.
The green roof was proposed as a sustainable solution: it helps lower temperatures, absorbs rainwater and improves the local microclimate, while tying the architecture to the landscape. The result is a functional, pleasant and more environmentally balanced space.
Scene 03 — Int. Duo Bedroom
Duo Bedroom
A bedroom for two brothers — from render to built joinery
Logline Two brothers, one room: joinery solves the space, and the wardrobe behind the door frees up room to study, play and store.
- Type
- Interiors · Joinery
- Status
- Wrapped · built
- Users
- 2 brothers, aged 8 to 15
- Program
- Sleep, study, play
A bedroom designed for boys between 8 and 15, meeting their needs for study, leisure and gaming. The design prioritizes making the most of the space and keeping it organized through custom furniture.
The layout fits two beds, a study area and storage, ensuring function without compromising comfort or circulation. The furniture includes a wardrobe, a bookcase, a study desk and wall cabinets, making better use of the walls and freeing up floor space.
A mix of open niches and closed modules lets the boys organize everyday things and display personal and decorative items. The study area is built into the furniture, creating a proper spot for reading, homework and the computer.
Scene 04 — Int. Apartments
Apartments
One- and three-bedroom units for a housing development
Logline Functional plans for different families: integrated living, kitchen and dining so every square meter serves life together.

- Units
- 1 and 3 bedrooms
A study of apartments for a housing development, with one- and three-bedroom units for different residents and household compositions.
The proposal aimed for functional, well-distributed plans, prioritizing the integration of living room, kitchen and dining to encourage time together and make better use of space. The units were planned for comfort, everyday practicality, good daylight and natural ventilation, and efficient internal circulation.
The project includes floor plans and interior perspectives that help visualize how the rooms are organized and the furniture and finish choices.
Making of — from sketch to site
Method
- 01 · Survey — Measure on site and record what already exists: design starts from reality.
- 02 · Modeling — Study volumes, joinery and openings in the 3D model. (SketchUp)
- 03 · Render — See the space before it exists and decide together with the client. (Enscape)
- 04 · Documents — Detail with dimensions and specifications so the build leaves no doubt. (AutoCAD)
- 05 · Construction — Spreadsheets, schedules and follow-up through to handover. (Spreadsheets and schedules)
Ext. Construction site — 2024 — 2026
Two years on site
Before the architecture studio, a construction company: for two years I worked alongside the people who build.
That's where I learned that a good drawing is one the site can actually build. So I design with the builder in mind: checked measurements, resolved details and a schedule that works.

Four points
For an architecture made to be built
- 1. Measure before drawing — Every project starts on site: measure, record what exists and understand how it's used before the first line.
- 2. Draw to build — A good drawing is one the site can build: dimensions, materials and joints resolved on paper, before construction.
- 3. Decide together — A render is a conversation. The people who will use the space see it, weigh in and decide before construction starts.
- 4. Materials that last — Wood, reclaimed brick, granite and greenery: honest materials, chosen to age well and last.

About Erick
I'm in the 10th semester of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Catholic University of Petrópolis, graduating in 2026, and I currently intern at Laura Varejão Arquitetura.
Before that, from 2024 to 2026, I interned at Construtora De Paula Hammes, a construction company. I work the way the building site taught me: measuring, modeling, detailing and following through.
